In 2005, half a kilo of 64-year-old Pu-erh tea was successfully auctioned for 3 billion VND. In 2019, seven traditional Pu-erh tea cakes preserved since the 1920s – sold for $1.08 million (about more than VND25 billion).

In Vietnam, Vietnamese tea connoisseurs are willing to pay tens of millions of VND for a precious Shan Tuyet tea cake. Tea cakes are collected, preserved and valued by tea lovers as a valuable long-term investment asset.
Because, like fine wine, tea cakes become more delicious the longer they are kept. Fermenting for a long time helps to maximize the aroma and sweetness, transforming the tea into a medicinal substance, used to cool the body, detoxify, reduce blood fat, lose weight, reduce nervous tension, and is a useful sedative drink, suitable for use every day, every season of the year, so people often consider it a type of antique.
